SIV and Pilotage Courses
These courses are an important part of a pilot’s safety training and can benefit newly qualified and experienced pilots alike, and anyone with a new wing.
Once again we are working with Fabien Blanco Gomez an instructor and test pilot for Mac Para and we have developed a course that will suit all levels of pilot. Whether you’re a new CP looking to gently expand your understanding of your wing or an experienced pilot wanting do advanced manoeuvres or even acro.
The unique aspect of this course is that you learn to recognise the points at which you should react and importantly when to do nothing. This is done by feel rather than a set of rules (which are frankly quite useless under stress when it's all gone to worms!). It's a bit like loosing control of a car on ice - you might have been told not to brake and to counter steer (in the dim and distant) but your brain has to analyse what's going on and by then you will have hit the brakes and it's too late. If however you practised the manoeuvre your subconscious instantly recognises the weird movement of the car and you react correctly.
Each pilot will be individually assessed and a piloting skills program designed for your level. Using this method you will progress rapidly without being pushed too far to soon, and ensuring that you have really learnt the skill rather than just going along for a roller coaster ride and coming away with no understanding of what was happening to the wing. our approach means that even very low airtime pilots (less than 10 hours post CP) can learn the essentials of safe flying.
SIV & XC Weeks
These courses are run in conjunction with Les Passagers du Vent and are a new concept. First tried last year they have proved extremely popular so much so that space is already limited.
Whereas our normal SIV courses have an intensive 2 days over the lake this course is a bit more laid back. You will do one or two SIV/Pilotage flights every morning and have a debrief over lunch and then fly in the afternoon thermals using the confidence gained over the lake to improve you thermalling and do some small XC flights. The sixth day is a pure Alpine flying day. Again this course is suited to most levels of pilot but we suggest CP + 20 hours to get the most out of it.
We don't think there are many SIV courses out there that offer upto 10 big flights over 5 days. This format enables you to relax into the course and repeat any of the manoeuvres or concentrate on aspects of you flying, and still have 3 to 4 hours of quality flying each afternoon.
SIV & Pilotage Weekends
New this year we are running weekend SIV courses at Annecy. You can fly out Thursday evening, we'll collect you from Geneva, you do 3 days over the lake at Annecy and then fly home Sunday night or Monday with almost no time off work.
Included in the price is full board accommodation in our chalet, airport transfers, tuition with David Eyrault or Fabien Blanco.
From £490 see price page for details and dates or call for availability.
You can also combine an SIV weekend with one of our courses as this year most of out Alpine flying and XC courses will be running Sunday to Sunday with the flying starting on Monday.
ACRO
Fabien Blanco is one of the top Acro pilots in the world - he placed 6th at the Red Bull Vertigo in 2006 and this was whilst running his school www.flyeo.com, holding down a job a test pilot for Macpara and bringing up his children!!
Depending on your skill level you can learn some of the easier manoeuvres like the SAT & Asymmetric Spirals to Helicopters and Tumbles. Give us a call to have a chat about it - 0800 652 3977.
For some acro action checkout some of the Flyeo video clips.
ACRO is inherently dangerous so please don't be disappointed if we won't let you do some manoeuvres if we don't think you're up to it.
