Paragliding – Grand Bornand and Annecy

The Last Resort have been providing paragliding holidays around Annecy and Le Grand Bornand since 1997, running courses for all levels of pilots from beginners to advanced XC and Acro. Unfortunately at the end of 2008 our insurers decided to hike our premium to a ridiculous level for no apparent reason (we’ve never had a claim!). This sadly means that we can no longer provide courses or guiding.

We can however provide a welcoming place to stay for pilots and Al & Ian (aka Nobby) are still around to provide weather, site info and site transport for pilots staying at the Pre Fleuri.

Retrieve and site transport services – More than just a driver!

Chamonix valley at the start of a 100km+ day

Ian and Al will who have over 18 years experience flying in the area between Chamonix and Chambery will be your chauffeurs. Helping choose the best site for the day and taking you there. If you bomb we’ll get you back up to launch asap or if you land out your retrieve is only a radio or mobile phone call away.

We often fly more than one site in a day to maximise airtime and make the most of conditions. It’s up to the group what time we finish – if it’s flyable you can fly!

A Fully supported paragliding holiday from €415 per person!

includes: 6 days site transport and retrieval service (covers all sites and retrieves in the Haute Savoie) and 7 nights self catered accommodation in one of our luxury apartments or the chalet depending on the size of your group.

This service is for experienced pilots who have already flown in Alpine conditions – you decide if the conditions are OK for you. We’ll provide the info you need and tell you about possible routes.

Paragliding Le Grand Bornand

Le Lachat de Chatillion has a huge grassy takeoff 1000m above Le Grand Bornand. Easily accessed by gondola and chairlift in July and August it sits in the centre of the Aravis flying arena.

The size of the launch and position of the house thermals mean that the air is hardly ever crowded which makes getting up and getting away from the hill a much more pleasureable experience than in the crowded skies of Annecy in peak season.

Once you climb out the whole Aravis and Bargy ranges are there for the taking, and the whole area has gentle meadows in the valley bottoms if you bomb!

It’s perfect for pilots looking to make their first XC transitions with little stress and for experienced XC pilots it’s a perfect starting point for big XC triangles.

Paragliding Annecy

Having fun over lake Annecy

Well what can we say, it’s probably the most popular paragliding site in Europe and during the Spring and Summer one of the most consistently flyable. Not to mention the views.

For low airtime pilots it’s a great site in the mornings to practice in the first thermals and fly across the lake when conditions start to strengthen. The evening resitution gives safe smooth soaring high over the lake and the chance to make some easy transitions.

More experienced pilots will want to have a go at the classic “Petit tour du Lac” and the “Tour du Lac” and then fly home to our base in St Jean de Sixt – we might even bring you a beer while you’re packing up!
